Questions and Answers

How do you interact with Facility Managers?

From an LSI Lighting perspective, I engage Facility Managers as long-term operational partners, not transactional buyers. Before joining LSI, I spent several years at LineDrive, working directly with Facility Managers on facility operations, safety programs, and MRO solutions. That experience gave me a deep understanding of their day-to-day challenges—keeping people safe, maintaining uptime, controlling costs, and meeting compliance requirements.

Because of that background, my conversations today go beyond lighting fixtures. We talk about safety, visibility, maintenance access, energy efficiency, and long-term performance. The goal is always the same: deliver lighting and controls solutions that make facilities safer, easier to manage, and more reliable over time.

Tell us about a favorite project related to working with a Facility Manager.

One of my favorite projects involved a multi-site industrial facility that was experiencing inconsistent lighting levels, safety concerns in high-traffic areas, and frequent maintenance issues. Drawing on my LineDrive experience in facility and safety environments, I approached the project the same way I would a safety assessment—identify risk areas, operational pain points, and maintenance burdens.

Working closely with the Facility Manager, we implemented a standardized LSI indoor and outdoor lighting solution that improved visibility, reduced maintenance calls, and enhanced overall site safety. The FM saw immediate operational improvements and long-term confidence in the solution.

What is your greatest success story related to working with Facility Managers?

My greatest success stories come from helping Facility Managers shift from price-driven decisions to value-based, lifecycle-focused solutions. During my time at LineDrive, I regularly helped FMs justify investments in safety and facility upgrades based on risk reduction and operational efficiency. I bring that same mindset to LSI.

By aligning lighting performance with safety, reliability, and total cost of ownership, we’ve helped Facility Managers reduce maintenance spend, improve working conditions, and standardize solutions across their portfolios. Many of those relationships have turned into long-term partnerships where LSI is brought in early on future projects.

Tell us about a challenge or obstacle that you faced working with a Facilities Manager and how you overcame it.

A common challenge is working with Facility Managers who have been burned by previous vendors—whether from poor product performance or unmet safety expectations. In one case, a facility experienced premature lighting failures that created both operational disruptions and safety concerns.

Leveraging my LineDrive background in facility operations and safety, I worked with the FM to evaluate the electrical environment, installation conditions, and risk areas. We addressed the root causes, set clear expectations, and implemented an LSI solution supported by transparent warranty and long-term support. That trust-building process ultimately turned a skeptical FM into a strong advocate.

What is something that most people do not know about you?

Most people don’t realize that before lighting, my career was rooted in facility operations and safety through my work at LineDrive. That experience allows me to approach lighting from an operational and safety-first perspective—not just a product lens. I genuinely enjoy helping Facility Managers solve problems that impact people, productivity, and compliance.

What learning experience would you pass on to future facility managers?

The biggest lesson I’d share is to think holistically and long-term. During my LineDrive days, I saw firsthand how reactive decisions often lead to higher costs and greater risk over time. The same applies to lighting. Involve trusted partners early, prioritize safety and reliability, and evaluate solutions based on lifecycle value—not just initial cost. The best outcomes come from proactive planning and strong partnerships.
