Questions and Answers
How do you interact with Facility Managers?
I work closely with Facility Managers by focusing on communication, transparency, and responsiveness. My goal is to understand their operational needs, pain points, and compliance requirements so I can deliver solutions that make their jobs easier. I prioritize being proactive, whether it’s helping plan ahead for inspections, addressing issues before they become emergencies, or simply being available when they need support.
Tell us about a favorite project related to working with a Facility Manager.
One of my favorite projects involved helping a Facility Manager consolidate multiple fire and life safety services across a large commercial property. They were dealing with different vendors, inconsistent inspection timelines, and compliance gaps. I worked with them to build a unified service plan that streamlined their inspections, improved documentation, and reduced system downtime. Seeing their stress level drop and knowing the building became safer made it a standout experience for me.
What is your greatest success story related to working with Facility Managers?
My greatest success stories come from helping Facility Managers shift from price-driven decisions to value-based, lifecycle-focused solutions. During my time at LineDrive, I regularly helped FMs justify investments in safety and facility upgrades based on risk reduction and operational efficiency. I bring that same mindset to LSI.
By aligning lighting performance with safety, reliability, and total cost of ownership, we’ve helped Facility Managers reduce maintenance spend, improve working conditions, and standardize solutions across their portfolios. Many of those relationships have turned into long-term partnerships where LSI is brought in early on future projects.
What is your greatest success story?
A success story that stands out is when I helped a Facility Manager bring a facility back into full compliance after years of overdue maintenance and open deficiencies. By leveraging my field experience, I walked them through each issue, prioritized the critical items, and coordinated the corrective work. We completed the repairs ahead of schedule, cleared all outstanding discrepancies, and passed the next AHJ review with zero findings. The Facility Manager told me it was the smoothest process they’d ever experienced.
Tell us about a challenge or obstacle that you faced working with a Facilities Manager and how you overcame it.
I once worked with a Facility Manager who had inherited a building with incomplete records, missing system information, and no clear history of past inspections. This created a lot of confusion and frustration. Instead of tackling it piece by piece, I created a full system inventory and inspection baseline for them. By organizing all system components, documentation, and service needs, we turned a chaotic situation into a manageable one. That structure gave the FM confidence and control moving forward.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
Most people do not know that I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and actually began my working career as a police officer. That experience gave me a strong foundation in communication, situational awareness, and problem solving, skills that still serve me well when supporting Facility Managers today.
What learning experience would you pass on to future facility managers?
The biggest lesson I’d share with future Facility Managers is to never underestimate the value of proactive planning. Staying ahead on inspections, documentation, and system maintenance saves time, money, and headaches down the road. Building strong relationships with trusted service partners also makes a huge difference when you collaborate instead of react, everything becomes easier.
